Commercial Product Manager

Steiner eOptics Inc. is searching for a highly experienced Commercial Product Manager to join our team of dedicated professionals in support of designing and delivering precision products including Night Vision Devices, Laser Aiming Solutions, and Battle Lights for avid Sports, Hunting and Outdoor enthusiasts.

Location: Miamisburg, OH

Job Summary/Objective

The Commercial Product Manager reports to the Vice President Sales who, in-turn, reports to the General Manager. The role will interface directly with personnel from all levels of Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, Accounting, and Marketing. As the commercial business function is established, requisite staff will support product development, product management, and sales functions.

Product Vision and Strategy – The Commercial Product Manager will establish and implement a Product Development process enabling the organization to drive high value products to the market in a competitive timely manner.
Product Management – Develop, document and implement specific methods for a stage-gate process, product specification, demand forecasting, and product launch.
Customer Solution Management – Establish and implement an effective process assuring products profitably meet the needs of customers by continually monitoring the marketing mix to assure optimum pricing, market positioning, margin analysis, product line maintenance, and competitive analysis.

Product Marketing Management – Establish and implement a Go-To-Market commercial sales channel strategy that assures continuous growth and capture of competitive market share. Manage new product introductions and accurately develop sales forecasts for annual plans.
Additionally, this role monitors and analyzes sales, gross profits, and other metrics for the product lines while making necessary adjustments in the product line plans to meet goals and objectives.

Essential Functions

Considers emerging trends within the market and technological advancements that may be leveraged to develop products that effectively meet current and future customer requirements.
Serve as the interface between engineering, accounting, and operations, focused on delivering products that delight consumers.
Guide commercial product introduction from conception to launch. Act as technical project manager from conception through production and shipment to the customer.
Articulate product requirements based on keen market insight and determine competitive and value-based pricing and clarify product positioning.
Collaborate with Supply Chain, Finance, and the Go-To-Market organization to ensure successful product launches and profitable life-cycles.
Engage the commercial channel. Attend buyer meetings and face customers along with other sales team members. Gather VOC (voice of customer) for products and solutions.
Function as a product expert at strategic customer meetings, facilitating sell-in, demonstrations.
Required Skills

Price analysis and product positioning.
Supplier and Channel relationship building and management.
Manage, launch, and drive projects to completion.
Intimate experiential knowledge of Marketing functions. Ability to identify opportunities to increase visibility in the marketplace and support the company’s sales efforts through executing and delivering communications strategies, email marketing campaigns, planning, content creation, execution, reporting metrics, webinars, marketing events, tradeshows, speaking engagements, social media presence and direct programs to drive awareness and recognition.
Facilitate cross functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues, implement product or process improvements and cost reductions.
Assess and optimize existing products for application, field performance, or manufacturing improvements, and develop line extensions.
Manage expenses within budget. Monitor and control expenditures.
Support Sales while working bids through substantial opportunities.
Evaluate market intelligence and adjust strategy to meet changing conditions.
Support with trade show and convention needs.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite tools (Word, Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel - v-lookup, pivot tables, graphs, basic financial model).
Ability to communicate with customers, both, internally and externally daily.

Education & Experience

College degree required.
Minimum of 3-5 years product development work experience.
Key manager of a minimum of 3 new product launch projects.


Travel may be required domestically and internationally for business purposes up to 10-20%.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to pass background check and drug test.
